Minister For Youths Commends Gov Okpebholo for His Infrastructural Development

The Minister for Youth Development Hon. Ayodele Olawande has commended Gov Monday Okpebholo for his infrastructural development in the State which is directly affecting the people at the grassroots positively.

The Minister who was part of the governor’s entourage to inspect several projects across Benin metropolis said Governor Okpebholo is doing so much in the area of infrastructural development, embarking on people oriented projects that will transform lives in the State.

The Honourable Minister, gov Okpebholo, speaker Edo State House of Assembly (EDHA) Rt. Hon Blessing Agbebaku and other top government functionaries inspected Temboga road, Uteh Palace road, flyover bridge at Ikpoba Hill, Gully erosion site at Obaseki Street in Ikpoba Hill, Flyover bridge at Adesuwa Junction in Sapele road, Etete road amongst others.

Hon. Olawande said despite different discussions on the social media about criticising the governor, he is focused on developing Edo State. He noted that despite some elements trying to sabotage the work of the governor, he is putting Edo people first.

“The governor is doing so much in the area of infrastructural development. We have joined the governor to inspect projects in the State and the Okpebholo administration is getting projects done and taking it to the grassroots.

“The governor is getting development to the roots, opening up Communities for economic development. I am happy to be part of the governor’s entourage to see projects in the State”.

He commended the Okpebholo led administration describing it as a people centered government embarking on people oriented policies that is changing the lives of the people.

“This is the first time we are having a people centered government with people oriented projects that we all can see. Through his infrastructural development he is empowering people through employment. Governor Okpebholo is truly serving Edo people.

“The Tinubu’s administration is also people oriented, serving the people of Nigeria”.

Gov. Okpebholo thanked the Minister for youth development who visited the State and accompanied him on the inspection tour of the projects assuring him that Edo people will continue to enjoy the dividends of democracy under his administration through practical governance.

He noted that his administration has embarked on projects which are scattered across the State which shows that his administration is working for the Edo people, adding that the people are acknowledging the efforts of his administration in developing the State.

“You can see the jubilation and cheers from the people assuring us that 2027 is sure. 2.5 million votes is not negotiable, my critics can go ahead to critise me but Edo is for president Tinubu.

“Edo has never been loved before, Tinubu has shown us love. Every kobo you see us spend on this project and others are coming from president Ahmed Bola Tinubu, tell me how Edo people will not vote for him.

“You can’t come here before because of the gully. Hopefully before the end of this year the people of this area will be driving on a smooth road. I will continue to talk because I am working for Edo people. The 2.5 million votes are settled”.

The Special Adviser on projects Engr. Mrs. Phoebe Williams Bello who was also part of the inspection team said Obaseki Street at Ikpoba Hill was a refuse dump because of the Gully erosion in the area but with the intervention of Governor Okpebholo the Gully is gradually being reclaimed.

She noted that following the erosion problem in the area a survey was conducted and discovered two meters underground drainage coming into the area, noting that when it got to the end of the street it was reduced to 1.5 meters and couldn’t carry the volume of water.

“The governor agreed for an addendum to the project and underground drainage system from the flyover. We decided to take this one kilometer road to accommodate the underground channel of drain. At the flyover we have started digging for the underground drain which will be covered.

“We will channel the drain to this place. Last December people couldn’t access this place because it was a refuse dump but as of today it has been cleared and we can see the Ikpoba river from here which will be the final destination for water from the area.

“We have opened this road, removed the existing surface soil worked on the road and did temporary grading to enable the people in the area to access the road. The road will be asphalted with drainage at both sides to take water to the Ikpoba river”.
