Joao Pedro Closing in on Chelsea Move Ahead of Club World Cup Clash

Chelsea are on the verge of completing a major summer signing, with Brighton striker Joao Pedro set to join the Blues in a deal worth over £50 million, according to The Athletic. The 23-year-old Brazilian is expected to undergo a medical in the United States this week and could be available for selection as early as Friday, when Chelsea take on Palmeiras in the Club World Cup quarterfinals.

Pedro has impressed since his move from Watford to Brighton, scoring 30 goals in 70 appearances. Known for his movement, technical ability, and composure in front of goal, his arrival would provide Chelsea with a timely boost in attack as they aim to secure international silverware.

The forward’s time at Brighton came to an abrupt halt after a training ground bust-up, which saw him left out of the squad during the final fixtures of the season. Despite the controversy, Chelsea have moved swiftly to secure his services ahead of the July 3 registration deadline for the tournament.

Chelsea are also pressing ahead with additional signings, with moves for promising youngsters Jamie Gittens and Estevao Willian reportedly in the works as the club continues to invest in its long-term vision under manager Enzo Maresca.
