Edo Government Supports Auchi Teaching Hospital with Vital Medical Supplies

The Edo State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Cyril Adams Oshiomhole, has received a delegation from the Edo State University Teaching Hospital, Auchi, during a courtesy visit aimed at strengthening collaboration and seeking additional support for the facility.

Led by the Acting Chief Medical Director, Dr. Tijani Oseni, the delegation commended the Commissioner for his prompt response to public health emergencies, including the recent outbreaks of diphtheria and dengue fever in the state. Dr. Oseni emphasized the strategic importance of the Auchi-based hospital, noting it as the only state-owned teaching hospital and tertiary health facility in Edo North, serving residents within and beyond the region.

In response, Dr. Oshiomhole reaffirmed the state government’s dedication to advancing healthcare delivery across Edo. He pledged to convey the hospital’s needs to the Governor and underscored the administration’s commitment to accessible and quality healthcare.

Following the meeting, and in line with the Commissioner’s directive, the hospital team, accompanied by the Director of Public Health, Dr. Stephenson Ojiefoh, visited the state’s medical stores. The visit resulted in the provision of essential medical supplies to the hospital, including oxygen cylinders, beds, surgical masks, gloves, gowns, and other necessary items to enhance patient care and service delivery.
